Our gorgeous online shop collection came into being out of the response to Giraffe Manor, our iconic boutique hotel in Kenya’s capital, Nairobi. It seems that, like us, our visitors can’t get enough of the enchanting herd of Rothschild’s giraffes which roam the Manor grounds. Thus, our small collection of giraffe themed gifts and goodies in Giraffe Manor’s boutique shop grew in popularity. In recognition of Kenya’s immense artisanal talent, we expanded our collection to a whole range of locally crafted jewellery, homeware, textiles, handblown glassware and more. Why not share this with the world, we thought? So that’s what we did and along came Giraffe Manor Online Shop, full of beautifully crafted African products enabling you to bring the safari into your home, wherever you are.

However, our passion for sharing the magic of Kenya began many moons ago...

The Safari Collection grew out our founding family’s love for Africa and its wild spaces. They wanted to share this with the world and for others to experience the magical wildlife, people and places of East Africa. Thus, in 2004 The Safari Collection’s first seeds were scattered - just a few mobile canvas tents in the Masai Mara. Over the years it has developed and grown into what it is today: a collection of four distinctly unique camps and lodges nestled in some of Kenya’s most spectacular locations.

At Solio Lodge in Laikipia, you can encounter vast numbers of one of the world’s most endangered species, rhino, on a private game sanctuary alongside a host of other experiences including cycling and horse-riding through the wilderness. Next door to Giraffe Manor, we’ve created the ultimate space for our guests to rest in as they transit through Nairobi at the beginning or end of their African adventure. Named The Retreat at Giraffe Manor, it offers luxury day rooms, a wellness centre, café, bar and tranquil gardens for the ultimate relaxation experience surrounded by nature.

Giraffe Manor Online Shop unites The Safari Collection family. Through our collection of products, it brings together cultural influences from all four of our properties, from the colourful beading of the Maasai and Samburu traditions to the carved, woven and sewn items from Nairobi and other areas of Kenya. Our shop also supports projects from our Footprint Foundation – this is the part of our organisation dedicated to overseeing the conservation, health and education initiatives we support throughout Kenya. Our Footprint ensures that everywhere we go and everything we do impacts positively on the environment and people around us. That’s why every item in our shop has been carefully selected for its genuine sustainability and the difference it makes to the person creating it.

From the adventures we design to the food we serve in our lodges and the products we champion in our shop, our ethos is one of longevity, to ensure that the world we leave our children is thriving with biodiversity, culture and the breath-taking wild spaces we enjoy today.
